Simply Card Press...the Make the Cut way!

I love the simplicity of the printed card. To me, they seem very adult, very dignified. And because of that I have long dreamed of a card press. But, my dreams have taken other directions. I have come to realize that with my Make the Cut software, I really do not need a card press---MTC and my home printer do the work for me! And there are truly no limits!

MTC or comparable software
A Basic Square shape
My Thoughts Exactly Big Thoughts Stamps
White Card Stock
Lettering Delights Doodlebats: Leaves
Distress Ink: Antique Photo
Home printer
Assorted glue/popdots
Background card 5.5 x 8.5"
  • Set up the card front in MTC:
    • Set up 3 rectangles using the basic square shape, label as indicated:
      • Backmat: 5.4 x 4.2
      • Middlemat: 5.145 x 3.9450 (this is the colored one!)
      • Frontmat: 4.91 x 3.710

  • Set up the decorative strip in MTC:
    • stripmat: 5.4 x 1.1507 (colored the same as middlemat)
    • stripfront: 5.2375 x 0.9687
    • bring in the leaf strip from Doodlebats: foliage (or create your own!) Size to fit the 5.2375 x 0.9687 strip.

  • The card is now set up. With the "Contrast Layer" selected, the card looks like this:

  • Send file to printer. Be sure to "close the eye" of the indicated layers.

  • Stamp with the desired sentiment. This card is so simple that it could run the gamut. Why not make several, just in case?

That is how I turned my MTC into a cardpress! It was that simple; really! I am so happy (and so is DH because I have not had to add one thing to my scraps!)

  5. Looks great, but me repliacting that LOL is a different story! I'll give it a go if I can find a few moments. Did you print the tan outline or is that from cardstock a color you had? Which parts actually printed and which parts cut? I'm a good video learner LOL...cardmaking for dummies!
