So Many Colors, So Little Time....

When I quilt I think my favorite part is choosing the colors! It excites me. Lately, however, it is tough. Maybe it is because I don't have a huge fabric selection available to me. Bummer.

My hubby treated me to a trip to a large quilt shop about an hour away from me. It was there that I became intrigued with the Color Cube by Sarah Renae Clark

Each card took me back to an older color palette system called Design Seeds. I used to live for these palettes and built quite a few of my early quilts around them. Alas, the cards did not come home with me.... but I have thought a lot about them.

Recently, there have been adds in my Facebook feed about a product from Zollie called Palette Scout.

I generally "scroll on past" and avoid. But, for some reason I bit. I read the information behind each link on the page and I have to admit, I was intrigued. Yet, the card collection did not automatically grab my attention. It seemed to be like paint chips at Lowe's. But the more I read......

So, off to Youtube for the comparison video search. There were a couple of videos, but this is the one that I found to be very helpful and informative: https://youtu.be/dewD7o3U3c4?si=WK5HmQ4ohz64KAA0

After listing MY pros and cons on paper, I did make a choice. I cannot review the product yet, but in addition to the video above there were some big players in my choosing.
1. I am a predominantly a fiber artist. I choose a focus fabric for my project and go from there.
2. I am looking for a tool to help me expand my creativity.
3. I prefer the dedicated nature of the swatch.
4. I see this as a tool I would take shopping with me. Need easy to carry.
5. I choose to support small businesses.
6. I look for things like newsletters, blogs, etc. to support my learning.

This adventure has yet to play out. Will let you know!

Until next time, I'm expanding my scraps so I can continue generating the gems!
